Yes, high end, fine dining restaurants are feeling the heat of an uncertain economy, but fear not, there are still a LOT of exciting openings and the streets are alive with casual food offerings. Most excitingly, a wave of cool new wine bars have become the new go-to spots: Pluto, Pinci, Jolie, Cielo (see below) - all spots which are serving up stellar wines and drinks alongside plates that will provide the baseline for your perfect summer hangout. Whether you’re into natural pours, classic sips or non-alcoholic alternatives, there’s a bar (and a bite) waiting for you. On top of that we have two very exciting, new food halls as an option for any rainy summer days. So, raise a glass and get ready to dive into YOUR Berlin food summer!

Manon: Thé Duc Ngo’s French brasserie at the former Hotel am Steinplatz brings classic Parisian vibes to Berlin plus an extra dose of Duc Ngo spice

Ofra Café: A new Levantine Israeli spot from the Yafo team, taking over the former Café Mugrabi by Görlitzer Park with hummus-focused, simple fare.

Jolie Bistro: The new wine bar from the team behind The Catch and November, bringing breakfast, lunch, and snacks with a stellar wine list to one of Kollwitzplatz most prominent venues.

JuJu Sandwiches: Pan-Asian sandwiches are the theme at this wild new spot on Simon-Dach-Straße, featuring creations like a “Thai cheesesteak Roll” and “Rib-eye bulgogi Sando”.

Boii Boii: The Lode & Stijn venue finally has a new tenant: Boii Boii, the modern Thai concept from the pop-up crew behind “Thai Noods”

Romeo’s: The most hyped sandwich shop Berlin’s seen in years, serving indulgent, massive creations worth the wait.

Tacos el Rey: The next-gen taqueria from the team behind Taqueria El Oso, keeping taco dreams alive while El Oso gets a revamp.

Pluto: A buzzing wine bar from the Otto crew on Kastanienallee, pairing Otto-style bar snacks with great glasses of low-intervention wine.

Trattoria Senza: Mitte’s new haven for Italian food, catered towards intolerances, offering a fully gluten-free and lactose-free menu in the former Eins Unter Null space.

Stoke: Kreuzberg’s upscale yakitori joint that’s got the European food scene hooked— expertly grilled skewers and more right across from Axel Springer.

Basta: A permanent spot at Casa Camper Mitte from the Lobb pop-up crew, offering drink-focused brunches and dinners in style.

Golt’z Kebap: The Döner project by one of our most beloved Burger joints has opened a second location in Neukölln, saving you the hike to South Berlin.

Cielo: A food-focused wine bar by former KINK Head Chef Ivano Pirolo bringing natural wine and sophisticated snacking to Friedrichshain

KERB Berlin: Potsdamer Platz’s newest street food market, located in the former IMAX cinema at Sony Center, has gathered some of Berlin’s most exciting food vendors in a highly enticing food hall.

Puffer Imbiss: The beloved Hermannplatz street food joint, known for Kartoffelpuffer and Eierkuchen, has sadly closed - rumors of new owners persist, but the originals are out. R.I.P. to an iconic food institution.

Crazy Bastard Kitchen: After many years of serving multi-concept dishes in its Neukölln location, CBK has officially closed its doors.

Breslau: The Polish comfort food spot known for pierogi has shut down, with “Maison Saveur”, a Korean BBQ place, now taking its place.

Bräugier: This Ostkreuz gastropub, once home to Gully Burger, has sadly poured its last pint.

Montraw: The Israeli casual fine dining spot on Torstraße has closed, marking the end of an era.

Santa Maria: One of Berlin’s Tex-Mex pioneers has closed its doors, with Peruvian restaurant Tupac now in its place on the Oranienstrassse location.

Daily Warteg: The Indonesian street food joint, once in an Imbiss setup near Hauptbahnhof, and later on Danziger Straße, has closed its operations.

Il Moro: Friedrichshain’s Italian Osteria has quietly bowed out, leaving fans craving their rustic plates.

Pinci: The smoking hot Italian aperitivo hotspot Pinci is rumored to be locking down a second Berlin location in Kreuzberg—details are still under wraps, but rest assured that the it-crowd is waiting to invade this place as well.

Shiori: Acclaimed for its refined Kaiseki-style dining, Shiori is set to open a second location in Friedrichshain—still months away, but definitely one to watch.

Tim Raue: Word on the street is that Michelin-starred restaurateur and celebrity chef Tim Raue has been quietly crafting a pizza chain concept for over two years and is due to launch it in Berlin this fall.

Dirty Bistro @ Tulus Lotrek: Starting May 18th, Tulus Lotrek will offer Sunday lunch featuring Max Strohe's simple bistro cuisine.

KALLE Berlin: The exciting Neukölln food hall is just weeks away from opening up to the public.
